From their ability to purify our indoor air, create a relaxing outdoor sanctuary, or provide us with medicines we can grow ourselves, plants can be an incredibly powerful healing force within our home environments.

We believe that herbalism and medicine making offer far more than just a safer, more natural alternative to pharmaceuticals. They are a source of empowerment, resilience, spiritual healing, and resistance. Therefore, our focus is not on selling supplements that came from the other side of the world. Rather, make medicine from plants that are native or naturalized to Texas and grown locally in Galveston and regionally.

We produce teas, tinctures, salves, and more in-house. We also sell live plants and provide education on growing and making your own products.

With training, education, and awareness, medicinal plants and herbal allies can be powerful tools in achieving wellness; however, true healing begins on a spiritual level. We do not believe the medicines we make should be used in isolation. We encourage you to go through our health coaching and healing home assessment process to find the solutions that are best for your needs. 

Another goal of the Island Apothecary is to educate clients on practical and impactful alternatives to toxic home cleaning and self-care products. Some of these products are developed and sold in-house and others are simply given as recipes.
